Welcome, my name is Ms. Hillary and I am the lead for Classroom 5. I have worked at Desert Garden Montessori since 1999 and have been a lead since 2011. I look forward to another fantastic year with your kiddos, providing them with amazing experiences as they grow. I have 3 children of my own all of whom attended Desert Garden Montessori. I feel very lucky to have had my kids in such a loving community growing up and a place for them to think of as a second home. (We are here a lot!) I obtained my training from Virginia Vaga. I am inspired by what she taught me and come to work every day loving what I do.
My staff includes Ms. Evelyn Mejia, who has been my sidekick for the last 6 years. She has also been here since 1999 and has been working with the toddlers since day 1. I was lucky to have someone with toddler experience guiding me through the little things. Ms. Erica Miller joined us 3 years ago and has worked very hard to educate herself and be aware of the Montessori philosophy. She started her toddler training this last winter. Erica has done an outstanding job at creating relationships with the students and educating herself about the philosophy. She has added such a great spirit to the class and I look forward to another year with her. Ms. Justine Forbes has been at Desert Garden since she was 3 years old. She has now worked with me since 2012. I have seen her grow and be a model Montessori educator. She is still teaching me things. I love that I have all of these incredible people to work alongside me another year!
I look forward to teaching your children life skills and basic tools to be independent in the world. I love seeing them figure something out for the first time or teaching a younger friend how to do something. These kids may be little but they are so capable and ready for all kids of challenges, and learning experiences. Please try and make it to many school events, they are a great way to connect with fellow parents and even create new friendships. It is also a great time to ask questions and or bring up things you don’t quite understand. We are going to work really hard in educating the parents on the true meaning of Montessori as well as the philosophy behind it.
Parent Orientation is provided for you in video format this year. Please take a few moments to view this video in full to become familiar with the rhythm and expectations of your child’s classroom.
We are continuing to use our Montessori Compass software system for photos, activity reports, and progress reports. We will be using regular email for all other parent-teacher communication. You can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. In order for us to serve your child during the school day, please allow for a 24-hour turnaround time from teachers. In case of an emergency, please contact the front office.
As parents in Classroom 5 and a family in the Desert Garden Community, we encourage you to become involved. Ms. Kaycie Baker is our Classroom 5 home room parent and can serve as a valuable resource for any questions you may have. Ms. Kaycie can be reached at Kaycie.email@example.com. Please also check the right-hand menu of our Classroom page on the website for more information about Classroom 5, including our daily schedule and your child’s supply list.
We also have a private Facebook page for Classroom 5! This page will be utilized for Parent to Parent, Teacher to Parent and School to Parent communication. It is a fun place to build community and communicate with one another. Please accept our DGM School Account FRIEND REQUEST. If you did not receive one please send a FRIEND REQUEST to our DGM School Account to be INVITED into your child’s PRIVATE Classroom FB page. We will share photos, ideas and build community within our classroom here. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Sallie Delfino.
We are looking forward to another great year!
