Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! I am excited to get to know each of you and your children. I look forward to a happy and productive school year.
The values we practice daily in the Montessori classroom are the building blocks for your child’s educational future. This will be a year of excitement in learning, growth, and opportunity for each child. I serve as a guide for your child every step of the way. I will celebrate their love of learning, confidence, and academic achievements for continued success.
I fell in love with the Montessori Philosophy during my final year at Northern Arizona University. After working as an Assistant, I went on to receive my AMS Certification through South Mountain Community College. I feel very fortunate to be working in such a wonderful community, with incredible children.
I believe in balancing work and family. My husband Aaron and I welcomed our daughter Bria in September of 2014. I have learned so much more about love and learning since I became a mother. She has taught me so much, and I am a better teacher because of her. We are excited for the birth of our second daughter, due in September. We will update you on the final substitute decision within the first few weeks of school.
Classroom 1 has wonderful supporting members. Ms. Tina Manheim has been at Desert Garden for 9 years and has been Classroom 1’s assistant since 2011. She has two daughters, one a world traveler, and the other a recent high school graduate. She will provide a constant presence and will be an amazing support for our students while I am on maternity leave. The love that Ms. Tina has for the children shines and makes the classroom such a beautiful place.
Sharing takes place on Tuesdays for 3 year olds, Wednesdays for 4 year olds, and Thursdays for 5 and 6 year old children. This is a time for the children to present what they have brought to the classroom. Items include books, homemade crafts, pictures from trips, and objects relating to our monthly unit study. Please leave toys at home.
Parent Orientation is provided for you in video format this year. Please take a few moments to view this video in full to become familiar with the rhythm and expectations of your child’s classroom.
We are continuing to use our Montessori Compass software system for messages, photos, parent communication, and progress reports. In order for us to serve your child during the school day, please contact us via Compass for a 24-hour turnaround time from teachers. In case of an emergency, please contact the front office.
As parents in Classroom 1 and a family in the Desert Garden Community, we encourage you to become involved. Ms. Molly Brizgys is our Classroom 1 home room parent and can serve as a valuable resource for any questions you may have. Ms. Molly can be reached at email@example.com. Please also check the right-hand menu of our Classroom page on the website for more information about Classroom 1, including our daily schedule and your child’s supply list.
We also have a private Facebook page for Classroom 1! This page will be utilized for Parent to Parent, Teacher to Parent and School to Parent communication. It is a fun place to build community and communicate with one another. Please accept our DGM School Account FRIEND REQUEST. If you did not receive one please send a FRIEND REQUEST to our DGM School Account to be INVITED into your child’s PRIVATE Classroom FB page. We will share photos, ideas and build community within our classroom here. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Sallie Delfino.
If you have any questions, or would like to volunteer in the classroom, please do not hesitate to contact me. I can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org Thank you for your support. Together we can make this a great year!
